Mawazine News - Baghdad,
a member of the Taqadum Party, Khattab Al-Tamimi, reiterated his assertion of his party’s right to name the Speaker of Parliament, indicating that those who supported Shaalan Al-Karim will maintain his position in the next session.
Al-Tamimi said in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News: “The Taqaddam Party, headed by Muhammad al-Halbousi, represents the “Sunni majority” and has the right to assume the presidency of the House of Representatives.”
He added, "The political forces that supported Shaalan al-Karim in the previous session will remain in their position in the next session," noting that "the Sunni forces do not allow the reinstatement of the Presidency of Parliament."
He pointed out that "Taqaddam has not yet put forward any alternative candidate for Shaalan Al-Karim," noting that "the engineering of Muhammad Al-Halbousi raised the fortunes and votes of Shaalan Al-Karim."
