    Information/Baghdad..
Member of the Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kadhimi, confirmed today, Sunday, that there is a major defect in the mechanism for collecting customs from the border crossings.
Al-Kadhimi said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “Iraq imports annually approximately 60 to 70 billion dollars,” pointing out that “6 billion dollars and customs revenues should reach the state treasury, but they only reach two trillion dinars.”
He added, "There is a major error in the management of the Customs Authority, pointing out that there is a possibility of setting original taxes and an interest in paying taxes through transparency and correct dealing."
He pointed out that "more than 10 trillion dinars are supposed to be collected for the state treasury as a result of importing goods." The deficit percentage, according to the proposal of the draft general budget law that the government sent to Parliament, was 63.275 trillion dinars, with the adoption of a price of $70 per barrel of oil, given that more than 95 percent of the budget revenues depend on oil sales.End/25
