The Iranian Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, Bahram Ain Allahi, said that one million and 200 thousand people visited Iran last year for the purpose of treatment, which provided an income of one billion dollars in revenues from medical tourism to the country, noting that the majority of them are from Iraq.
Bahram Ain Allahi, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the medical tourism exhibition in Tehran, explained that these tourists who visited Iran came from 60 countries to receive treatment.
The Iranian Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education pointed out that the people of neighboring countries go to Iran for treatment “because the Islamic Republic of Iran has the strongest health and treatment system in the region.”
Bahram Ain Allahi added that one million and 200 thousand tourists from 64 nationalities visited Iran last year, the majority of whom were from Iraq and Afghanistan.
He stressed that most of the tourists who went to Iran for treatment during the past year came from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, Armenia, Tajikistan, and the countries of the Gulf region.
