    Baghdad / Obelisk Event:
Ambiguity surrounds the issue of the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, as the situation continues in a state of rumination of statements and discussions that appear to have no specific time limit, and may continue for years. Members of the Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament support the negotiations that have been ongoing for about two months with Washington.
On the other hand, some believe that the statements and meetings are anesthesia needles, as the American envoy to the international coalition led by the United States, Ian McCurry, denied the existence of a current plan for the withdrawal of American forces and the international coalition from Iraq.
According to the available results, indicators of success have not been clearly identified with regard to the negotiations to withdraw US forces from Iraq. There is no specific information about the indicators that will determine the success of the negotiations.
Since 2014, American forces have been present in Iraq to fight ISIS. However, demands for its withdrawal have increased in recent years, especially after the assassination of Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad in 2020 and later a number of armed faction leaders.
The last round of negotiations between the United States and Iraq was held on February 28, 2024. It focused on setting a timetable for the withdrawal of American forces, and defining the role of the United States in training Iraqi forces and combating terrorism.
The Iraqi government wants to end the American presence in the country, and believes that this will help strengthen Iraq's sovereignty.
Some Iraqi political factions believe that the American presence constitutes a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
Some Arab countries fear the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, and believe that this will lead to destabilization in the region.

The withdrawal of US forces from Iraq will have major impacts on Iraq itself, as well as on the Middle East in general, including relations between Iraq and Iran.
The withdrawal of US forces could reduce security stability in Iraq, especially if a comprehensive agreement is not reached between the Iraqi government and the international coalition on security and military cooperation.
The withdrawal of American forces will have major political effects in Iraq, such as changing the political balances and influence between the various parties, and may increase sectarian and political tensions.
Some fear that the withdrawal of American forces will lead to negative economic impacts on Iraq, especially with regard to foreign investments and reconstruction, which may hinder the construction and economic development process.
