[rtl]Basra / NINA / The Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Engineer Farhan Al-Fartusi, discussed today, Sunday, with representatives of the Chinese company (Power China) the seawater desalination plant project.
The company's general manager said, "The seawater desalination project, which is one of the most important projects within the government program implemented by the government of the Prime Minister, Engineer Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, is being followed up in the field by the Prime Minister."
He added, "Today we held an important meeting in the presence of representatives of the Chinese company (Power China), the Basra Water Directorate, and the Grand Faw Port Project Authority, in order to provide all facilities for the establishment of this important project, which will be within the Grand Faw Port."
He explained that "the ports will spare no effort in making this important strategic project a success, which will eliminate the problem of the lack of potable water in Basra, which the province has been suffering from for decades."
It is noteworthy that this project will be the largest in the world among the rest of the projects for seawater desalination, as it will operate with a capacity of one million cubic meters per day, sufficient to meet the needs of 3-4 million people of Basra. The project also includes the establishment of an electric power generation station, within the project to ensure Its independence from external energy sources./ End[/rtl]
