62 intellectuals signed an objection to Al-Sudani: The minister assigned the secretary to a dangerous position

A number of media professionals, writers, intellectuals, and artists sent a letter of objection to Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, Minister of Culture Ahmed Al-Fakak, and the Iraqi political forces, in which they demanded the cancellation of the assignment of “Najwan Fares” to the position of acting director general of the Fine Arts Department, warning of the seriousness of this position and its direct relationship to the plastic legacy. Iraq, and issuing approvals to take these treasures out of Iraq.
The letter, signed by 62 people so far, says that Najwan Fares was assigned to this sensitive position based on her work as secretary to the minister, and the objectors demanded that the positions of the Ministry of Culture be removed from quota equations.
Message text:
Respected Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.
Respected Iraqi political forces.
Mr. Minister of Culture Dr. Respected Ahmed Al-Fakak Al-Badrani.
M - Objection
We are a group of Iraqi intellectuals in various fields of work, including literature, fine arts, journalism, and other things. We were surprised today by the assumption of the honorable lady (Najwan Fares Abdullah) as acting director general of the Department of Fine Arts, and this matter raised our astonishment.
The Ministry of Culture is a ministry with a symbolic significance, and it is connected to our image and cultural capital in front of Arab and international cultural circles, and the appointment of the esteemed lady, in this place, is an underestimation of the Iraqi plastic art, the oldest on the planet among civilizations, as the aforementioned lady has nothing to do with this. The matter is neither close nor distant, and her contact with Iraqi art is that she is the personal secretary of the current and former Minister of Culture.
We register our objection to this detail, and if consensual quotas have devoured the Iraqi state, and every government is trying to get rid of some of its consequences, then at least leaving the Ministry of Culture out of this equation, especially since an important department like this is responsible for two dangerous tasks at the same time: the first is preserving what What remains of the memory of Iraqi art, which was looted in 2003, are museum works. The second is to approve the removal of this or that work outside Iraq. This department must be headed by a specialist or specialist, who has a great experience in understanding Iraqi art, its manifestations, and its treasures, and not To just a general manager using a green pen.
We register our objection and demand, out of concern for the significance of this department and its tasks, that a committee be formed on the basis of which an appropriate name for this place will be chosen.
