[size=45]The National Retirement Authority announced that it had submitted proposals to amend some paragraphs of the law, including the retirement age and salary increases, noting that the 2019 amendment took place away from the authority and caused pressure on the authority’s fund.[/size]
[size=45]The Authority’s media director, Alaa Muhammad Karim, said in an interview with the media personality, Khitam Al-Gharawi:[/size]
[size=45]We have initiated correspondence with the relevant authorities to amend and delete some paragraphs of the Retirement Law.[/size]
[size=45]The last amendment to the Retirement Law in 2019 occurred in a turbulent atmosphere and was hasty and ill-considered, especially with regard to the age of referral to retirement, as our opinion was not taken into account, and it was carried out far from the authority.[/size]
[size=45]Setting the retirement age at 60 after what used to be 63 years was a great injustice to a large segment of employees, and caused pressure on the retirement fund.[/size]
[size=45]We are working to return the retirement age to 63 years, because of its many benefits.[/size]
[size=45]There are controversial articles in the retirement law, such as Article 13, which concerns those leaving work, the dismissed, and those who resign. This article stipulates that if an employee has 20 years of service, and is 50 years old, and leaves work or resigns, he has the right to be referred for retirement. As for the amendment to the law in 2019 It stipulated that the years of service should be 15 years, and when the employee is 50 years old, he will be referred for retirement. Here, a distinction was made between the previous law and the latest amendment, and we are working to unify this paragraph between the amendment and the law.[/size]
[size=45]We have presented proposals to address the large discrepancy between retirees’ salaries, and the salaries of some retirees may increase according to the equation that will be calculated.[/size]
[size=45]We are not responsible for determining the amount of retirees' salaries, we only determine the minimum salary.[/size]
[size=45]The retirement fund covers the salaries of only a small part, namely employees, but there are many categories that were created after 2003, whose salaries are paid from the state treasury.[/size]
[size=45]In February 2023, a package of measures was issued by Al-Sudani, which included the distribution of land plots to those not benefiting from previous distributions.[/size]
[size=45]Loans and advances are not our specialty. The Authority does not provide amounts other than salary, but we can cooperate with donors and provide recommendations to help retirees.[/size]
