    The volume of financial movements through electronic payment devices increased during the past year to 9 trillion and 800 billion Iraqi dinars, according to the Information Technology and Payments Department of the Central Bank of Iraq.

    Director General of the Department, [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/600552230/%D8%B9%D8%AF%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%86 %D8%A3%D8%B3%D8%B9%D8%AF/ar/]Adnan Asaad[/url], said that this increase is merely evidence of the tendency of citizens and employees to use electronic payment, after it amounted to 289 billion dinars in 2019,” according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.



    He added, "The electronic collection project also rose to reach 108 billion and 7 million dinars during the past year, through one million and 46 thousand transactions, after it was 3 billion and 35 million dinars during the year 2021."

    Asaad stated, “The number of bank cards reached 18 million and 500 thousand cards last year, compared to 10 million and 500 thousand cards in 2019, while statistics showed that 558 government departments used electronic payment devices during the past year, compared to only 12 departments in 2019.” .

    He continued, “The total government electronic collection since the activation of the [url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/entity/1122135457/%D9%85%D8%AC%D9%84%D8%B3 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D8%B2%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%A1/ar/]Council of Ministers[/url]’ decision to publish electronic payment tools through 586 thousand and 868 transactions amounted to 418 billion and 371 million dinars, while the total government electronic collection last year from points of sale through 287 thousand and 543 transactions amounted to 408 billion and 277 million dinars.” He stressed that “10 billion and 9 million dinars is the total collection from gas stations across 299 thousand and 325 transactions.”

    He continued, "The value of the use of electronic payment last year in the Iraqi currency through 15 million and 838 thousand transactions amounted to 9 trillion and 661 billion and 503 million dinars, while the value of the use of electronic payment last year in the dollar currency through 32 thousand and 842 transactions amounted to 11 million and 936 thousand dollars."
