Parliament is heading to begin its recess

Parliament will end its second term on the ninth of next May without an extension, entering into a legislative recess that will last for two months, amid expectations of a delay in referring the budget to the Council.
Member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Jassim Al-Khafaji, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “It is customary to extend the legislative term for one month, and if the budget is not sent, it will not be extended,” adding that “one of the proven observations on the government is that it has not sent the budget schedules until now, which means We do not know any time limits for reviewing, discussing, approving, and returning it to the government and the Ministry of Finance again in preparation for disbursing it to the formations of spending units, which means delay in all aspects of this process.”
He pointed out that "if the budget is sent this week, Parliament will extend its term or agree with the government, and conversely, Parliament will not extend its legislative term," indicating that "the current budget is tripartite, and the justification for its legislation was not to delay or exceed the timings." In turn, MP Nazem Al-Shibli called on Parliament to complete its sessions before going into its legislative recess, and this is the normal thing, adding, in an interview with Al-Sabah, that if the budget is not received, we will go into recess. For his part, Member of the House of Representatives, Yasser Al-Husseini, told Al-Sabah that “there is no need to extend the legislative term, unless the budget law arrives, and we support the extension in the event of an emergency.” Al-Husseini explained that "Parliament needs to complete its working hours to study the proposed laws, in addition to the need for more working hours for the purpose of finalizing and resolving the files."
