    A parliamentary source revealed today, Saturday, that the Presidency of the House of Representatives decided to devote today’s session, Saturday, to electing the new president only.

    The source said in an interview with Al-Sumaria News, “The Presidency of Parliament decided to cancel the first and second paragraphs of the agenda of today’s session and keep only the paragraph for electing the Speaker of the Council,” without giving further details.

    Today, Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Iraqi Council of Representatives will hold an “important” session that may change the political arena a lot, as there are 3 items on the agenda, the most important of which is the election of a new Speaker of Parliament, to succeed its former Speaker, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, who was dismissed late last year, by a final decision.
