The representative of the Sadiqoun Movement, Alaa Al-Haidari, confirmed that the House of Representatives will go to a fourth and fifth round if the presidential file is not resolved.
Al-Haidari said, in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, that “the process of electing the Speaker of the House of Representatives took place with great democracy and complete secrecy, as the competition between Al-Khanjar candidate Salem Al-Issawi and Taqadum candidate Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani is still continuing.”
He added, "The candidate of the tripartite Sunni alliance led by Al-Khanjar, MP Salem Al-Issawi, did not achieve an absolute majority of 166 votes, indicating that the majority of representatives are demanding the continuation of the third round to elect the Speaker of Parliament."
He pointed out that "if the presidency of Parliament is not decided in the third round, it will go to a fourth and fifth round or one of the candidates will withdraw."
