    Shafaq News/ On Thursday, the representative of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Soran Omar, announced that the five Kurdish blocs in the Iraqi Council of Representatives have agreed to unify their position to support a draft law aimed at canceling the Baath Party’s decisions related to agricultural lands in the areas covered by Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution. 
    He explained that these blocs pledged to vote in favor of the project, stressing the need not to obstruct its passage by the Shiite and Sunni blocs.
    Omar said in a post on his personal Facebook account, which Shafak News Agency viewed, "The five Kurdish blocs in the House of Representatives, in the presence of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, held a meeting with Hadi al-Amiri, head of the government's Article 140 Implementation Committee, to discuss the draft law to cancel the Baath Party's decisions related to agricultural lands in Kirkuk and other areas under Article 140," indicating that "these decisions have always been an obstacle to restoring rights to their owners."
    “We have held six meetings so far with the Shiite and Sunni blocs, in the presence of Mohsen al-Mandalawi, the acting Speaker of Parliament, Shakhawan Abdullah, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Khaled Shawani, the Minister of Justice, and Hadi al-Ameri, the head of the Article 140 Implementation Committee, to ensure that this project passes without opposition from other blocs,” Omar added.
    Omar stressed that the project has full support from all Kurdish blocs, confirming that he received promises not to object to voting in its favor. 
    He explained that this project represents a historic opportunity to end the grievances resulting from the Baath Party’s decisions related to the confiscation of agricultural lands in Kirkuk and other areas covered by Article 140, which aimed to change the demographic composition of these areas.
    This movement comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts of the Kurdish blocs to recover agricultural lands confiscated by the Baath government in the areas covered by Article 140, which include Kirkuk and the areas disputed between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.
