Barzani said in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that “the political parties, parties, and friendly and allied countries, especially the United States, are called upon to intervene to prevent delaying or postponing the elections in the Kurdistan region further,” warning that “any further delay will expose the entire democratic process in Kurdistan to risks.” big".
He added, "The United States of America must intervene to put things back on track, protect security and stability in Kurdistan, and keep the Middle East region away from any potential tension," stressing "the importance of putting pressure on political parties that seek to destabilize the principles of peaceful coexistence in the Kurdistan region to serve their narrow interests."
Yesterday, Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted on the second amendment to the law of the Independent High Electoral Commission. According to the amendment, instead of ending the life of the Commission next July, the life of the Commission will be extended until January 6, 2025, that is, for another 6 months.
This extension came in conjunction with another judicial decision that removed the most important reason for the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s objection and withdrawal from the elections, which was minority seats.
