With the postponement of the legislative recess of the House of Representatives in order to elect a new Speaker of the House, disputes over the position continued and the process was not completed. A member of the House of Representatives says: “No new date has been set for holding the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives.”
Dr. Briar Rashid, a member of the Iraqi House of Representatives, said in a statement to PUKMEDIA, “While it is not possible to overcome the obstacle of choosing a new Speaker of the House of Representatives while extending the duties of the House of Representatives for a month, there is not yet a specific timing for choosing the Speaker of the House.”
He added: "The political parties have not yet reached an agreement to choose a new person for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, as the House of Representatives is now in legislative recess until next July."
