The competent staff of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities has begun comprehensive rehabilitation work for 42 residential neighborhoods in the Diwaniyah Center, as part of its project plan for the governorate for the current year.
The governorate’s media director, Nazhan Farid, explained to “Al-Sabah” that the comprehensive rehabilitation works include extending sewage and water networks in addition to paving the streets and constructing sidewalks, noting that the project, which is the largest of its kind in the governorate since 2003, aims to rehabilitate residential neighborhoods in an integrated manner to provide the necessary services to citizens.
He revealed that the ministry has adopted the university district within the governorate center as a model for the company's work in the rest of the residential districts in a manner that is consistent with the agreed upon technical conditions and specifications, stressing the intensification of the supervisory role on the progress of work in the project by the ministry and the local government in its executive and legislative branches in anticipation of the existence of violations.

It is noteworthy that Diwaniyah has suffered during the past period from the decline of its service reality, which made it a service-stricken governorate, which prompted the central government to adopt a package of measures to reform the situation, including the dismissal of a number of senior officials and the allocation of financial sums to establish infrastructure projects.
