Al-Muhammadi said in an interview with Sumarya News, "The other blocs have begun to intervene to find a solution and a way out to resolve the issue of choosing a new speaker of parliament, and all blocs are in favor of resolving this issue and choosing a single candidate who is agreed upon by everyone to fill this position," noting that "more than one solution has been proposed, such that the position be the share of the Progress Party or another political bloc in agreement with Progress."
He added that "the solutions proposed by Halbousi are still under discussion, and the solutions are either consensus, choice, understanding, or concession of entitlements," expecting "this file to be resolved in the coming period." The
Sunni blocs' representatives stressed, yesterday, Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the necessity of holding a session to elect the Speaker of Parliament according to two criteria, one of which is following the legal procedures.
A statement by the Azm and Sovereignty Alliances and the Sunni representatives in the Contract Bloc and the independents, addressed to the leaders of the political forces and the Coordination Framework, stated, "The Sunni blocs' representatives see the necessity of moving forward with holding a session to elect a Speaker of Parliament and following the legal procedures and adhering to previous norms," while the statement attributed this to "preserving gains in a critical and sensitive circumstance at the national, regional and global levels."
