    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The Ministry of Oil announced today, Saturday, the completion of drilling the first multi-section oil well in the southern East Baghdad field.[/rtl]
[rtl]The Ministry’s media stated in a statement received by “Al-Eqtisad News” that “the drilling of the first multi-section oil well within the East Baghdad South field was completed in record time, using modern methods and technology, and with double production quantities.”[/rtl]
[rtl]According to the statement, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Extraction Affairs, Basem Mohammed Khudair, confirmed that “the Ministry has ambitious plans that come in implementation of the government’s directives, the government program, and the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil aimed at developing the oil and gas industry, to sustain crude oil production operations and optimal investment of gas, to achieve economic development, and to secure the needs of power generation stations and other industrial uses.”[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "the ministry today completed the drilling of the first multi-arm oil well in the southern East Baghdad field in record time, at a low economic cost and with double production quantities, using advanced drilling technology."[/rtl]
[rtl]The Undersecretary pointed out that “the company operating the field, the Chinese company EBS, succeeded in developing the field and reached production rates of (40) thousand barrels per day, and we aspire to increase production from the field, which supplies the Al-Quds Power Station in Baghdad and the Dora Refinery with quantities of crude oil.”[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, "The field development process benefits the surrounding areas, through employment, in addition to the social benefits provided in the fields of education, health, and infrastructure projects."[/rtl]
[rtl]The Director General of the Central Oil Company, Mohammed Yassin Hassan, said, “The well was drilled under the supervision of the company. It is a multi-section and multi-arm well. It is one of the new experiments in drilling using modern technology. The drilling operations were carried out in two sections, the first with a length of (1215) meters and the second with a length of (1503) meters.” He pointed out that the drilling operations began at the end of last June with an implementation period of (82), and thanks to the exceptional efforts and continuous cooperation between the company and the main operator of the field (the Chinese EBS Company), the drilling operations were completed in a period less than the scheduled period of (12) days.[/rtl]
