Interior Ministry spokesman Muqdad Miri said in a press conference attended by Sumaria that we have achieved activities and accomplishments for the first time in the field of civil defense, and we have recorded 8,850 fires during the current year, compared to more than 16,000 fires last year, a decrease of 55%.

He pointed out that "we witnessed a very hot summer and millions of visits, and the last support that the Civil Defense received was in 2010 and now in this government."

He explained that "part of the support was the establishment of 100 model firefighting squads, 96 of which have been completed and the rest are under construction, with a completion rate of 90%, in addition to receiving 28 rescue boats and a siren system."

For his part, the Director of Civil Defense confirmed the start of holding violators accountable according to the authority available to Civil Defense and closing projects for 15 days to provide civil defense and safety equipment.

He confirmed that "1,288 violators were fined, and 2,766 projects were closed in 2024, while the number of violators referred to criminal courts reached 516 projects, while last year there were only 151 projects, in addition to achieving 116,570 safety reports, holding 9,943 seminars and 92,929 participants in awareness seminars on civil defense."

He stressed that "the support that the Civil Defense Directorate received this year is something it has not received since its establishment in terms of specialized and peaceful vehicles, in addition to boats and warning systems."
