    Baghdad Today - Erbil
Kurdistan Democratic Party member Wafaa Mohammed Karim said on Wednesday (September 11, 2024) that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Erbil will discuss several issues.
Mohammed Karim explained in an interview with Baghdad Today, "Erbil wants to reassure Tehran that talk about the existence of Israeli headquarters is just lies, and there are no Mossad headquarters or hostile intelligence."
He added, "The other thing is that Erbil wants Iran to stand at an equal distance from all parties in Kurdistan, especially in the elections file, and not to support a specific party during the Kurdistan Parliament elections."
The Kurdistan Democratic Party member pointed out that "the security file, the issue of the Iranian opposition parties, and the economic files will be discussed."
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday morning (September 11, 2024) on his first visit abroad since his election last July. He was received by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani at Baghdad International Airport.
The Iranian presidency website reported last Thursday that Pezeshkian's visit will last for three days, noting that the Iranian president will hold, in addition to official meetings, meetings with Iranians in Iraq and with businessmen. He will visit Najaf, Karbala and Basra.
Bazeshkian will stop in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, where he will meet with Kurdish officials, according to the Iranian official news agency "IRNA".
In March 2023, Iraq and Iran signed a security agreement a few months after Tehran carried out strikes against Kurdish opposition groups in northern Iraq, and since then, the two countries have agreed to disarm Iranian Kurdish rebel groups and remove them from their shared border.
