    Information / Baghdad
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani described, on Wednesday, that the ties between Iraq and Iran are historical, solid and old.
Al-Sudani said in a joint press conference with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, that "the joint economic file is an important gateway to achieving the aspirations of the peoples of the two neighboring countries, noting that he discussed with the Iranian president the broad and multi-faceted bilateral strategic partnership."
He pointed out that "our discussions emphasized strengthening transportation lines and logistical connections, and we have made significant progress on the Basra-Shalamcheh line, in addition to discussing many projects, including the development road and the land road."
He explained that the focus was on "the border industrial zones project in Wasit, Maysan and Basra, stressing the discussion of the work of Iranian companies."
He stressed that Iraq's position was clear as a government to expand economic partnership, as we signed 14 memoranda of understanding in various fields, thanking Iran for supplying gas and facilitating its purchase from Turkmenistan.
Al-Sudani stated that he spoke with Bezeshkian about the importance of stability in the region, which is threatened by the Zionist entity with the ongoing genocide against Gaza, and preventing the expansion of the conflict and the violation of the sovereignty of states.
For his part, President Bezeshkian expressed his desire to follow up on the previously concluded agreements and those concluded today, which represent a new start for cooperation between the two countries, pointing to the agreement to form a team of experts from the two countries in various fields to develop strategic plans for broader cooperation between the two countries.
He expressed the need to "activate the security agreements between the two countries to deter terrorists and those who want to target security in the region."
Bezeshkian stressed his country's desire for "Iraq to be strong, stable and secure, with brotherhood and calm prevailing, noting that the visit represents a great opportunity to discuss our points of view and draw up our future plans."
He promised that "the Zionist entity is committing the most heinous crimes against humanity in Gaza." End 25
