Barzani: Losses from halting oil exports exceed $19 billion, no Israeli bases in Kurdistan

Kurdistan Region President Masrour Barzani said that the losses from the halt in oil exports exceeded $19 billion, while denying at the same time the existence of Israeli bases in the region.
Barzani explained in an interview with Al Arabiya channel, "There are accumulated problems related to oil, gas and the general budget, and they can only be resolved through permanent agreements between the two parties."
He pointed out that "the losses resulting from the halt in oil exports from the Kurdistan Region exceeded 19 billion dollars, stressing that the federal government has not shown any willingness to compensate the region for these losses."
Barzani also addressed accusations of oil smuggling against the region, calling on those making these accusations to provide real evidence.
On March 25, 2023, Turkey halted the shipment of Kurdistan Region oil to the port of Ceyhan, after an international arbitration ruling ordered Ankara to pay compensation to Baghdad, for violating the 1973 pipeline agreement by allowing the export of Kurdistan Regional Government oil without the approval of the Iraqi government.
The International Criminal Court ordered Turkey to pay Baghdad $1.5 billion in compensation for exports it described as “unauthorized” by the Kurdistan Regional Government between 2014 and 2018.
The oil pipeline, which extends from Kirkuk province to the port of Ceyhan, is the only export route for crude produced by the oil fields in northern Iraq.
There are no Israeli bases in the region.
Regarding the relationship with neighboring countries, Masrour Barzani pointed out that the Kurdistan Region always seeks to expand its circle of friends, explaining that the region enjoys good relations with neighboring countries, in addition to Western and Gulf countries.
Regarding relations with Iran, Barzani expressed his hope that the Iranian president's visit to Iraq would be the beginning of improving relations between the two parties, denying the existence of any Israeli bases in the region as some claim.
