[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / Today's newspapers focused on the phone call between Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and US President-elect Donald Trump and the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Islamic Summit in Riyadh.
Al-Zawraa newspaper, issued by the Journalists Syndicate, said that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani agreed with US President-elect Donald Trump to proceed with the strategic partnership between the two countries and coordinate together to end the wars in the region and hold a meeting in the near future. The
Prime Minister's media office said in a statement: "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani made a phone call with US President-elect Donald Trump, in which he expressed his congratulations to the President and the American people on the occasion of winning the elections, and the great confidence that the American people have given him."
He added, "The two sides also stressed the desire to proceed with the strategic partnership between the two countries, and to strengthen bilateral relations in ways that go beyond the security aspect, through close cooperation in the fields of economy, finance, energy, and technology. “
The Prime Minister, according to the statement, indicated that he was “aware of Trump’s words and promises during the election campaign, which included his commitment to ending wars in the region, and the two sides agreed to coordinate together to achieve this.”
For his part, the US President-elect expressed “the desire to work positively with the Prime Minister, and to meet soon to discuss expanding relations between Iraq and the United States of America, and to work on these common files.”
For his part, government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi stated that “the contact between the Prime Minister and US President-elect Donald Trump was characterized by a high degree of positivity between the two presidents, and without a doubt such a contact should have taken place 48 hours after President Trump won the elections and before the official inauguration day, indicating that the two parties’ keenness to communicate by phone reflects the mutual desire between Baghdad and Washington to maintain a high level of understanding and communication and push relations to higher levels.”
He added that "the two sides stressed the importance of moving forward with relations, indicating that the Prime Minister referred to President Trump's positive statements about stopping the war in the region and stressed his readiness to participate effectively in this path to maintain stability in the region. President Trump also indicated his aspiration to meet with the Prime Minister soon, which confirms that Baghdad and Washington are committed to the agreed path and what is required is cooperation to enhance it."
He continued that "Baghdad and Washington have been able, since 2011 until now, to build a solid infrastructure for relations based on technical and professional committees and a clear roadmap starting with the Strategic Framework Agreement SFA, the Joint Cooperation Committee JCC, the Higher Coordination Committee HCC, and the Joint Security Dialogue Committee JSCD, in addition to the role of the foreign ministries of the two countries and the role of ambassadors, and the continuation of hotlines through the international relations committees in the Prime Minister's Office, which culminates in communication between the Prime Minister and senior US administration officials, and each of these committees plays its role in a professional and technical manner far from political influences in enhancing the reality of the relationship between the two countries."
Al-Sabah newspaper focused on the preparatory ministerial meeting for the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit that will be held in Riyadh today, with Iraq's participation.
The newspaper said that the meeting will discuss ways to stop the Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, and developments in the region, noting that the summit, in which Iraq will participate tomorrow, Monday, came as a culmination of Iraqi diplomatic efforts and the invitation of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to hold it, as the first Arab and Islamic leader and official to call for such a high-level meeting.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received an official invitation from the Saudi monarch last week to participate in the summit.
According to the political advisor to the Prime Minister, Fadi Al-Shammari, "In light of the convening of the Arab-Islamic Summit, Iraq stands out with clear positions that support stopping the criminal and brutal violence against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, as it stresses the need to stop the repeated Zionist operations and human rights violations against innocent civilians, while continuing its diplomatic efforts through coordination with Arab and Islamic countries and the international community to exert international pressure that contributes to protecting civilians and stopping the escalation that the entity seeks to create."
He explained that "in addition to that, the government is making urgent relief efforts to help the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and mitigate the effects of the Zionist aggression, by providing urgent humanitarian aid that includes food, medicine and medical support," explaining that "these efforts come as a confirmation of Iraq's firm position in standing by the brotherly Arab peoples in their ordeal and extending a helping hand to them."
In turn, the political advisor to the Prime Minister, Subhan Al-Mulla Jiyad, said: "Iraq will participate in the Arab Summit - The Islamic competition that will be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Iraq is also in constant contact with several international parties for the purpose of stopping the aggression.
Al-Zaman newspaper followed the Iraq International Competition for Memorizing and Reciting the Holy Quran and said that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated the Iraq International Competition for Memorizing and Reciting the Holy Quran, which was launched with the participation of 62 contestants for memorization and recitation, representing 31 Arab and Islamic countries.
During the competition, which was held under the slogan “From Baghdad, Civilization and Islam, to Gaza, Resistance and Lebanon, Jihad,” Al-Sudani welcomed the Holy Quran, Victory and Steadfastness, yesterday, with “the participants in this international competition hosted by Baghdad, pointing to Iraq’s pioneering role in serving the Holy Quran and spreading its value system, which has strengthened the inculcation of the values of tolerance, peace and love, without religious, sectarian or denominational sensitivity, and through which Iraqis were able to overcome all challenges.
” Al-Sudani stressed “the necessity of following the guidance of the Quran in spreading love and preserving the unity of the country,” indicating that “the government has provided all support and care for memorizers and reciters of the Holy Quran, and has directed the opening of a special channel for them to be accepted into universities, and has supervised the care and support of Quranic centers, and has encouraged schools, institutes and universities to hold Quranic forums, and has urged young people to memorize and care for it,” directing that “this competition be an annual tradition.”/End [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][/rtl]
