US House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill prohibiting the transfer of detainees from the Guantanamo Bay prison by the presence of President Barack Obama at the helm, or until the prospective new draft law on defense policy.
The project passed the approval of 244 votes against 174 votes. The vote came on a party-based to a large extent as endorsed by all but four House Republicans and opposed by all House Democrats except 12.
The White House has vowed to veto the legislation. He also faces difficulties in the Senate, where Democrats would need to support the addition to the Republicans for adoption.
