A study by the government and the International Energy Agency (IEA) revealed that Iraq's losses due to the electricity crisis are about 40 billion dollars a year, calling for the need to resolve this crisis.

The Ministry of Oil, according to its agent for extraction, Karim Hattab, has given to the environment free of the energy sector in Iraq and made it a friendly sector of a great interest pollutants through the preparation of studies for the use of renewable energy, at the time of the Department of Studies and Planning and follow-up, Iraq is closer to sources of renewable energy, Renewable energy facilities for economic and energy use.

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals presented a study to establish the renewable energy industry as the gate of Iraq to achieve sustainable development in a prosperous economy. This came during a workshop held by the Ministry of Oil under the patronage of its Minister Jabbar Al-Liibi on renewable energy and its uses.

Renewable energy is produced from wind, water, and the sun. It can also be produced from wave and tidal movement or from geothermal energy, as well as from agricultural crops and oil-producing trees, but the latter have residues that increase global warming.

Renewable energy is currently being produced in hydroelectric plants from large dams on rivers and waterfalls, and wind-powered and solar-powered roads are widely used.

Hattab said in a speech during the workshop that, in coordination with the relevant authorities, we are seeking to build renewable energy friendly institutions by taking advantage of the solar energy and wind energy available in Iraq, so this workshop and the presence of a number of Iraqi ministries is to provide visions And in-depth studies in this field for the optimal investment of this idea to keep up with the developed countries of the world, which have undergone many experiments in this field.

Several sources assessed the economic damage caused by the lack of electricity production and the waste of energy. The most important of these was the International Energy Agency ( IEA ) and the consultants in the Council of Ministers who prepared the energy strategy " INES ", where combined reports estimated that up to 40 Billion dollars a year as damage to the economy because of the lack of electricity to important sectors of the Iraqi economy.

The head of the Preparatory Committee for the workshop and the Director General of the Department of Studies, Planning and Follow-up at the Ministry of Oil Sadiq al-Yasiri, Iraq is closer to renewable sources of energy and we expect that studies will be formed to establish renewable energy facilities to take advantage of them in the areas of economy and energy.

He revealed the formation of several committees to prepare the studies concerned to hold this workshop, which provided a number of research and studies from ministries and other bodies concerned with energy issues to discuss and reach a clear vision to be a map of work for the establishment of renewable energy facilities.
