SEOUL (Reuters) - Seoul said it had detected two earthquakes in an area about 44 kilometers northwest of the North Korean town of Kell Jo, presuming Pyongyang had carried out a sixth nuclear test.

The South Korean army confirmed that the two earthquakes were off and near a nuclear test site in North Korea, announcing a high alert on its border.
The Seoul presidential office, meanwhile, called for an emergency meeting in the country on Saturday afternoon for the National Security Council and discussed the connection of the two earthquakes to a possible nuclear test in North Korea.
China's Geological Survey confirmed two earthquakes in North Korea, the first 6.3 magnitude and the other 4.6 magnitude.
The US Geological Survey also confirmed it had detected a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in North Korea and described the incident as an explosion.
North Korea announced earlier today that it had developed a highly destructive hydrogen bomb that could be loaded onto an intercontinental ballistic missile and that Kim Jong-un was personally inspecting the bomb.
According to a report by the Institute for the manufacture of nuclear weapons in North Korea, the hydrogen bomb, which made all components in the country is "a multi-functional thermal atomic weapon has a destructive explosive power, and can be detonated at high altitudes."
On Tuesday morning, August 29, North Korea fired a Honsung 12 ballistic missile that landed 1,880 kilometers off the coast of Japan's Hokkaido island. The launch took place in the presence of Kim Jong-un. sf
