The commander of the armed forces, Prime Minister Haider Abadi said in his first comment on the referendum on the secession of Kurdistan region yesterday, "We have taken the measures now and we will step up our procedures to hold the referendum responsibility and not the Kurdish citizens."
"We have a constitution and a law to govern it and we will not accept a de facto policy," Abadi said during his visit to the joint operations headquarters on Sunday evening.
He stressed that "the imposition of the status quo and the seizure of land will not continue and threaten the citizens in the referendum bears responsibility for those who have done."
Abadi pointed out that "the federal authorities will impose it in the region, and the disputed areas must return to the federal authority until it is resolved constitutionally and we have procedures in that."
