The Union of Iraqi Forces said on Thursday that the participation of the Sunni component in the upcoming elections is subject to the implementation of its conditions, while ruling out the extension of the mandate of Prime Minister Haider Abadi.
"The process of extending the term of current Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi needs an emergency law or a great deal of problems in the country," said the MP from the Union and the head of the parliamentary bloc in parliament Mohammad al-Karbouli.
On the upcoming elections, he said: "Conditions have been set for the adoption of the election date set by the Council of Ministers on May 15 next year," pointing out that "the most prominent of these conditions is the return of displaced people and stability in the liberated areas of the organization calling for the terrorist" .
Karbouli stressed "the need to create a full environment for the elections," noting that "the absence of the appropriate environment at the moment for its own."
