Kurdistan receives 400,000 tourists on Eid al-Adha

Tourism Marketing Director Sirwan Tawfiq told Al-Sabah: The Kurdistan Region received nearly 400,000 tourists during Eid Al-Adha and the start of the scorching summer season, as their numbers in Erbil reached 117,421 tourists, while 125,000 tourists went to Sulaymaniyah Governorate, and the city Halabja: 80,176 tourists, noting that the number of tourists in Dohuk Governorate reached 60,000

He pointed out that the authority seeks, with the support of the regional government, to reach 10 million tourists during the current year 2024, stressing that the number can increase further in the coming years to reach 20 million tourists in 2030.
Tawfiq explained that coordination and cooperation are continuing with the security services and other concerned authorities at the ports and security controls with the governorates neighboring the region, where the number of tourists increases significantly with the start of the summer season and the rise in temperatures in order to facilitate the passage of tourists with ease and without delays and waiting in long lines, in addition to processing Problems and obstacles

He stated that developing the tourism sector is one of the goals of the ninth government formation in Kurdistan, which contributes to increasing the number of tourists and tourist destinations, adding that the Tourism Authority seeks to develop the infrastructure through its 8-year plan in all regions of the region in order to attract investors in it to be a tourist interface in the region and attract Thousands of tourists and provide the best services to visitors.
