    [size=45]The Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament called on the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, to open an investigation to determine the nature of the recent fires that the country witnessed, while giving him 15 days to send the results of the investigation to the committee.[/size]
    [size=45]The committee expressed, according to a statement, its deep regret over the fire incidents in some Iraqi governorates, which affected hospitals, shopping centres, forests and agricultural lands.[/size]
    [size=45]It called on the Minister of the Interior to “open an investigation to determine the nature of these fires, provided that the results of the investigation are sent within a period not exceeding 15 days to the Security and Defense Committee, based on Article (61/Second) of the Iraqi Constitution and Article (15) of the Council of Ministers’ Law.” The Iraqi Representatives and their formations No. (13) of 2018 as amended and Article (90) of the internal regulations of the Iraqi Council of Representatives.”[/size]
    [size=45]The committee stressed the importance of “paying attention and improving the status of the Civil Defense Directorate of the Ministry of Interior by equipping it with modern fire-fighting equipment, in addition to the necessity of involving its members in specialized courses on fire-fighting and rescue operations.”[/size]
    [size=45]She stressed the necessity of “high-level coordination between the competent institutions to reach effective solutions to prevent the recurrence of such incidents,” stressing that she will closely follow the matter and follow the course of the investigation according to the powers delegated to her constitutionally on the supervisory side.[/size]
