WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump on Sunday attacked the FBI again for denying that he had asked the former FBI director to stop investigating the behavior of his former top lieutenant, Michael Flynn.
"The reputation of the FBI has collapsed," Trump said in a tweet.
The Trump attack comes amid successive developments in the investigation led by Robert Mueller over allegations that Russia may have intervened in the US elections.
Trump denies that his team colluded with Russia for his election as president of the United States.
Reports were leaked over the weekend that Muller, who was director of the FBI, expelled an FBI officer last summer and prevented him from taking part in the investigation because of remarks against Trump.
"An officer who worked against Trump at the FBI led the Clinton investigation into a private e-mail server," said Trump.
A spokesman for Müller said the FBI officer had not been investigated as soon as the letters were discovered.
Fleen, the national security adviser, said on Friday he was cooperating with Muller's investigation in return for pleading guilty and sentenced him to a lighter sentence.
Flynn admitted lying to the FBI in return for a light sentence of six months in jail.
Analysts said the agreement reached by Flynn indicates that he has information that criminalizes one or more senior members of the Trump administration.
Trump, who published on Sunday morning, reprimanded his former challenger, Hillary Clinton, who was subjected to the FBI for using her own e-mail service when she was US secretary of state.
Clinton has not been formally charged. Finished
