    Today, Wednesday (January 3, 2024), the Independent High Electoral Commission commented on the accusations leveled against it by some losing forces and candidates in the provincial council elections .
    The head of the Commission’s media team, Imad Jamil, told “Baghdad Today” that “everyone praised the efforts and work of the Commission in holding fair and impartial elections free of any suspicions and doubts,” noting that “anyone who has observations or doubts can resort to legal methods.” During appeals, this is the right of any party.”
    He added: "We are surprised by the accusations and attacks on the Commission by some parties and personalities that did not win the elections, and that we are held responsible for this loss, even though it worked professionally and with the testimony of everyone, including international and UN organizations." 
    Jamil continued, "We have the right to sue any party and person who accuses us for the purpose of false accusation without evidence."
    The Independent High Electoral Commission announced this morning, Wednesday, that it had sent 294 appeals to the judicial authority for elections, while indicating that all of them would be completed today .
    The Secretary-General of the Board of Commissioners, Ali Faisal, said in a press interview followed by “Baghdad Today” that, “The Commission sent (294) appeals to the judicial authority for elections out of (329) and all appeals will be completed today .”
    He added, "We worked 24 hours a day to complete the appeals, and we made sure that the answers met the legal and technical aspects."
    On the first day of the year 2024, the Board of Commissioners of the Election Commission announced that the first batch of answers to the appeals had been sent to the judicial body.
    The Secretary-General of the Board of Commissioners, Ali Faisal, said in a statement received by “Baghdad Today”: “We sent the first batch of answers to the appeals to the judicial body,” noting that “the total appeals submitted to the election results amounted to 329 appeals.”
    He added: "We are likely to complete the answers to all appeals within the next three days in preparation for sending them to the judicial body."
