(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Iraq's permanent position and support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, especially the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
"The Iraqi government and people reject the decision of the president of the United States of America to consider Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli occupation," said ministry spokesman Ahmed Mahjoub in a press statement.
"While we express our deep concern at this unwise move, we call upon the entire international community to stand with the Palestinian people by rejecting this step, which may lead the region to its undesirable actions and actions in response to this decision," he added.
