Total lending levels in Saudi Arabia this year reached $ 77 billion 06 December 2017 12:20 PM
RIYADH - Saudi Arabia will lead sovereign sukuk issuance in 2018, accounting for more than half of total borrowing requirements, Moody's said.
In a recent report, Moody's Investors Research predicted that total borrowing levels in the Kingdom would represent 10.7% of the Kingdom's GDP in 2018.
The agency predicted that Saudi Arabia's total borrowing levels next year will reach $ 75.8 billion.
Total borrowing requirements in Saudi Arabia accounted for about 11.4 percent of GDP in 2017, the agency said.
Moody's said the total borrowing levels in Saudi Arabia this year amounted to $ 77 billion, compared with $ 122.5 billion in 2016 (representing 18.9 percent of GDP).
Total borrowing levels in the GCC are expected to rise  to $ 148 billion in 2018 as Gulf finance needs rise.
At the end of last month, the Saudi Ministry of Finance announced the end of receiving additional investors' requests for its domestic issuance by reopening its fourth issue (previously 10 - 2017), which was held in October this year under the Saudi government Sukuk program in Saudi riyals .
The total number of new subscription applications in these Sukuk amounts to approximately 19.8 billion riyals.
