Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned Wednesday that if the war breaks out again with Lebanon, the country will "pay a full price" for Iran's support of Hezbollah guerrillas.
"Hezbollah has sacrificed the national interests of Lebanon by fully subservient to Iran," Lieberman said in a speech at a conference of the Israeli National Security Research Institute.
"As a result, Lebanon will be the target of any future war, and if any citizen of Tel Aviv is forced to take refuge in shelters, Beirut will also be vulnerable," he said.
"If a war with Lebanon breaks out, it will not be against Hezbollah only," Lieberman said. "For me, Lebanon and the Lebanese army are no different from Hezbollah and will pay the same price."
"When we talk about the northern front, we are talking about the Syrian front as well. I hope the Syrians are smart enough not to intervene. I hope they have the ability to tell Hezbollah," he said.
Lieberman stressed that Israel "is not looking for adventures," explaining that "the war on the northern front will have negative effects on the entire region" in the event of the occurrence.
"Tel Aviv has a goal to end it (the war if it breaks out) as soon as possible," he said, adding that "there must be a clear victory."
