Israel accused Russia on Monday of providing cover for Iran's presence in Syria at a time when an Israeli minister demanded the departure of "Iranian militias" from his country's borders for hundreds of kilometers.
Israel spoke of the Iranian retreat to the east, as a condition for preventing escalation against Syria and Iran.
Israeli Housing Minister Yoav Galant estimated the distance to be 1,500 km, meaning that it would be taken out of Syrian territory.
Israel has also stuck to ending what it calls the "axis of evil" that includes Syria, Iran and Hezbollah, pledging to do whatever it takes to maintain its security, even if it is beyond borders.
On the other hand, Israel accused the Minister of Housing of Russia of providing an umbrella for the Iranian presence in Syria.
Despite Iran's denials of bases in Syria, Israel has published photographs it said were an Iranian military base at the Syrian airport near Palmyra, and announced that the Iranian plane that had penetrated Israeli airspace had left.
The Russian side, for his part, denied his knowledge of the presence of Iranian military bases at the airport and the Russian Foreign Ministry warned of escalation between Iran ally and friendly Israel.
The warnings were preceded by contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to press reports, to prevent further Israeli incursions into Syria.
