French commitment to Iraq
19/2/2018 12:00 am [rtl]Bruno Hubert France 's ambassador to Iraq , on the occasion of his visit to Iraq on February 12, the eve of the Kuwait conference on thereconstruction of Iraq, Mr. Jean-Yves Odrian, Minister of Europe , the French Foreign Affairs said, the masters Fuad Masum, President of the Republic, and Haider al - Abadi, the Prime Minister, and Salim al-Jubouri, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Ibrahim al-Jaafari, Foreign Minister, France's commitment to stand by Iraq to address the challenges of stability and reconstruction of the country. In this context, France is contributing above all to the international effort in favor of Iraq with an extraordinary loan of up to 450 million dollars, signed in 2017, which will allow coverage of funding needs in Iraq. In addition to this contribution, France is also implementing a number of humanitarian projects and stability in the areas liberated from terrorist control in order to facilitate the return of the displaced. In fact, since 2015, France's contribution to humanitarian aid and stability has reached 80 million euros. In 2017, all projects funded in Iraq from various French institutions, such as the Crisis and Support Center of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, amount to 47 million euros. In the same context, in 2017, the French Agency for Development allocated funding of 10 million euros for the rehabilitation and development of the water network in the province of Nineveh. France was also the first to express its determination to contribute to the rehabilitation of the University of Mosul. The Resettlement Fund includes the rehabilitation project of the Faculty of Medicine, funded by France. The reconstruction efforts funded by France are in the form of an exceptional contribution of 2.5 million euros through the United Nations Development Program's stabilization programs. These projects are concentrated in the following areas: • Three listed halls and the cafeteria of the Faculty of Medicine • The main building of the Faculty of Medicine, a secondary building belonging to Al Salam Hospital • Laboratory of the diseases department with all equipment • Laboratory of the analysis department with all equipment • Laboratories of tissue sections , Computers, chemistry and medical physics, with all equipment, Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Arts and the Department of French Language, including the installation of a center for digital education of the French language, which is the second field that France wants to develop in the campus of the University of Mosul. This is a pioneering experiment that will introduce Iraqi universities to the spread of more advanced educational applications, while digital education will contribute to the development of continuing education efforts on the web for all French language teachers. This cooperation will help the Faculty of Arts and the wider Mosul University to achieve a real technological breakthrough.
