, Iraq renewed its commitment to the "OPEC Plus" plan and agreement concluded last June, to reduce production for the member states of the Organization and its allies.
"The rate of oil exports from the fields of the southern governorates through the Al-Faw oil ports is stable at 3.4 million barrels per day," said the Director General of the Basra Oil Company, Bassem Abdul-Karim Al-Shamkhani.
He added, "The process of pumping oil from the four southern fields (Basra, Wasit, Maysan, and Dhi Qar) is stable at a ceiling of 3.4 million barrels per day, according to the Ministry of Oil's commitment to the (OPEC Plus) coalition plan," noting that "export takes place through our regional oil ports in the north of the Arabian Gulf."
He explained, "The current production of the Basra fields is around 3.25 million barrels per day, and it is hoped that it will reach 5 million barrels per day, according to the announced plan of the Ministry of Oil, after the launch of the (third pipeline) project carrying crude oil from Basra warehouses, and the completion of the export warehouse project in the Al-Faw oil port."
He pointed out that, "In implementation of the government program of Prime Minister Muhammad Shayaa al-Sudani and the directives of Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Zahra, we have prepared an urgent plan to expand the investments of the Basra Gas Company (an alliance of South Gas Companies, Shell International and Mitsubishi), which includes recovering the burnt gas in 3 oil fields (Rumaila, West Qurna 1 and Zubair), or what is known as the torch gas, to get rid of the burnt gas in the fields of oil service licenses to supply power plants with natural gas as fuel to operate their production units that depend on imported gas." "Basra Gas Company" regarding the details of the planned work plan to invest the "flare gas" associated with the production of crude oil soon.
Al-Shamkhani noted, "The project of the giant (Total Energy) alliance includes collecting burnt gas from three oil fields, namely (Nahr Omar, Artawi and Al-Luhais) to supply natural gas to power stations, and there is also another project represented in developing a giant solar energy plant with a capacity of 1 gigawatt to feed the electricity networks of Basra with electric energy."
