Gold rises as risk appetite eased
Gold prices rose on Wednesday amid investor aversion to risky assets after the United States imposed customs duties on imports worth $ 50 billion from China, boosting the possibility of a trade confrontation with Beijing.
Spot gold rose 0.2 percent to $ 1334.64 an ounce by 0700 GMT after falling 0.6 percent in the previous session.
The yellow metal rose 0.1 percent in US futures contracts to $ 1338.40 an ounce.
Among other precious metals, silver rose 0.3 percent to $ 16.43 an ounce after losing 1.4 percent on Tuesday.
Platinum fell 0.6 percent to $ 918.24 an ounce after falling to $ 912 an ounce in the previous session, its lowest level since late December.
Palladium was down 0.2 percent at $ 928.10 an ounce after hitting its lowest level since October 9, 2017 at $ 924.50 an ounce.
