Gold rises more by geopolitical risk |
Economy News _ Baghdad Gold posted gains of more than 1 percent on Tuesday, taking advantage of geopolitical risks that prompted investors to buy safe investment assets after the precious metal lost its third straight weekly loss. Gold also received support from the dollar's slide against a basket of currencies. Spot gold rose 1 percent to $ 1281.46 an ounce late in the US session. Gold futures in the United States for December delivery also rose 1 percent to $ 1281.60 an ounce. Among other precious metals, silver rose 2.4 percent to $ 17.20 an ounce, platinum rose 1.4 percent to $ 931.75 an ounce, while palladium rose 0.2 percent to $ 998.50 an ounce. |
