    [ltr]Gold pared early gains to plummet after Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged on Tuesday to cut tariffs on certain goods, helping ease fears over a growing trade row with the United States.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Xi pledged greater openness to China's economy and cut tariffs on imports, including automobiles. His remarks prompted gains for US stocks in futures, dollar and Asian stocks.[/ltr]
    [ltr]This has weakened demand for dollar-denominated gold and increased risk appetite.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Spot gold fell 0.1 percent to $ 1334.70 an ounce by 0727 GMT after rising to a one-week high of $ 1338.12 earlier in the session.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Gold futures in the US fell 0.2 percent to $ 1337.80 an ounce.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Silver rose 0.2 percent to $ 16.48 an ounce.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Platinum rose 0.2 percent to $ 933.5 an ounce after gaining 2 percent in the previous session, the biggest increase in nearly two months.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Palladium rose 0.4 percent to $ 933 an ounce, up 3 percent on Monday, the highest daily increase in percentage since Jan. 12.[/ltr]
