The Baker Hughes statement said Friday that oil exploration platforms in the United States rose by 11 platforms to reach 808 platforms during the week ending today.
US natural gas exploration platforms for the same period were unchanged at 194 levels, the statement said.
By 5:02 pm GMT, Brent crude was down 1.4% at $ 67.38 a barrel, while US crude <NYMEX> fell 1.9% to $ 62.34 a barrel.
During the same period, the price of natural gas futures for delivery in May rose by 0.9% to $ 2.70 per million British units.
