A member of the Russian Federation Council on the Chechen Republic Ziad Sbsbi said on Sunday that more than 60 Russian women will appear before the Iraqi courts on charges of illegally crossing the border and joining a sympathetic organization.
The Russian media quoted Spbsby as saying that at least 60 women of Russian nationality will appear before the Iraqi courts on charges of collusion with the organization of Daash, noting that "despite the denial of most of these charges, but the Iraqi judiciary may be sentenced to some sentences ranging, depending on the gravity Charges, between life imprisonment and execution. "
He added that the Iraqi judiciary will consider today the cases of 11 accused Russian, indicating that "the problem is that no one defends the Russian women mentioned, local lawyers do not want to do so on the basis of motives and moral reasons."
In April, the Iraqi judiciary sentenced two Azerbaijani and three Kyrgyz nationals to death. In February, similar sentences were issued against 16 women from Turkey.
"The charges are not of interest to Russian lawyers, and I personally can not represent their interests before the Iraqi judiciary. I am not a lawyer, and in the end there is not even anyone who can appeal," he said. "They can not plead guilty. Given their inability to obtain Iraqi visas. "
"The trials also involved the children of the accused, where children under three years of age are in prison with their mothers, and older ones are housed in shelters because the children of the accused can not be returned to Russia before the Iraqi courts decide on their mothers' cases," he said.
It is noteworthy that Baghdad issued last week, death sentences and life imprisonment for women carrying foreign nationalities, accused of joining the organization calling, including three Azerbaijani women and a Kyrgyz woman sentenced to death, and sentenced a French woman and two Russians to life imprisonment.
