Erdogan: We can launch military operation in northern Iraq "at any time"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Turkish troops could launch a military operation in northern Iraq against the rear bases of PKK rebels.
"If there is the slightest threat to Turkey originating from Iraq, and this happens sometimes, we are discussing it with Baghdad, " Erdogan said in a television interview . "If Baghdad says no, then we will not ask for approval from anyone, we will hit Sinjar and we will hit a jellyfish and we will hit even drunk."
    "We can come any time."
The Turkish president often mentions the Kandil and Sinjar mountains as possible targets for any Turkish attack on the rear bases of PKK rebels, but the first time Makhmour mentions the area south of Mosul, which Erdogan says is "fueling" the rear bases of Kurdish rebels in the Kandil mountains.
Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Suwailo said his country's forces were moving towards the rear bases of PKK rebels in the Kandil mountains in northern Iraq, adding that starting a military operation was only a "matter of time".
Erdogan's comments come less than three weeks before a presidential and legislative elections are held in Turkey, where the latest military operation against Kurdish guerrillas in Afrin has been highly supported.
Southeastern Turkey has seen almost daily clashes between security forces and Kurdish rebels since the summer of 2015 when a cease-fire aimed at ending a conflict that has killed some 40,000 people since 1984 collapsed.
