A member of the alliance victory MP Jamila al-Obeidi, Saturday, that the Presidency of the Council of Representatives based on the decisions of the Federal Court in the recent legislation to extend the life of parliament until the ratification of the election results, indicating that the Constitution does not set an explicit day for the expiration of the life of parliament.
"The legislation of the extension of the work of the House of Representatives was based on the decisions of the Federal Court on the legality of its work and legislation issued by it, as well as calling the parliament to continue to convene until the completion of counting and manual sorting."
She added that "Article 56 of the Constitution indicates that the House of Representatives must complete four calendar years without specifying an explicit date for the expiration of its legal age, which allows the Parliament to enact a law to extend its work.
"Article 62 of the Constitution gives the Prime Minister the power to terminate the work of the parliament in some cases, that is, the age of Parliament can increase or decrease as necessary, which allows the parliament to continue to monitor the performance of the government until the formation of a new parliament."
