Parliament resorts to the Federal Court to extend his immunity for six months

The political blocs and winning parties in the elections held consultations to form the largest bloc, and are considering the calculation of the number of seats, which will be counted by counting and sorting by hand, which the parliament decided to go to him after the existence of fraud of the results of the elections, and remained on the life of Parliament only 20 days, which opens the extension through Federal Court.
The current parliament succeeded in extending the age of an additional month, which ends at the end of this month, and has been able during extraordinary sessions to challenge the results of the elections and vote on the obligation of the Electoral Commission to restore the process of manual counting and sorting throughout Iraq.
"There are political discussions going on in the corridors of the House of Representatives to extend its powers for three months or six months after the end of its session on June 30," says the MP from the State of Law coalition. "There are political reasons to avoid a constitutional vacuum."
"The political blocs are looking for a legal way to extend the life of the House of Representatives for the next three months to fill the constitutional vacuum after the delay of resolving the file of election results and give the opportunity to the government and the Electoral Commission to end the audit."
Al-Hababi pointed out that "the blocs are trying to inquire from the Federal Court on the possibility of extending the work of the House of Representatives after the ratification of the same court to the new deputies after the audit of the results," noting that "the government can not work without a supervisory authority to monitor its performance or legislative authority to pass the laws necessary for society and government "He said.
"The constitution does not allow the extension of the life of the parliament, but it is possible that if the announcement of results results in going to the Federal Court to issue an emergency decision extending the life of the parliament for six months or a full year with the government," the head of the legal committee Mohsen al-Saadoun said.
Saadoun said in an interview with the «Journal News», that "the next period after June 30 will be normal and constitutional vacuum is normal and everyone will be an observer of the election results and then the formation of alliances."
In the opinion of MP Saleh al-Hasnawi, that the extension of the life of parliament is a violation of the Iraqi constitution, and if the order (extension of the period) this is a constitutional violation.
"The previous parliamentary session held the last session of the parliament open for nine months until the end of the discussions and consultations that formed the basis of the current government," Hasnawi told the Journal News.
He added that "the period of counting and sorting by hand does not take a long time and could disrupt the life of parliament for a month or more."
And reduces the specialists of the possibility of extension to the current parliament, stressing that "the parliament can not continue its meetings for one day, after this month"
"The provisions of Article 57 of the Constitution concerning the extension of the legislative term relate to the chapters other than the last chapter which ends the age of the parliamentary session. There are 8 chapters of the parliament every year that contain two legislative chapters," said the legal expert.
The work of the House of Representatives will be completed on June 30, and the government will be in charge of business starting July 1 .
