China's foreign trade volume rose to 2.85 trillion dollars
09/9/2018 12:00 am [rtl]Beijing / follow-up China's merchandise trade rose 9.1 percent year-on-year to 19.43 trillion yuan (about 2.85 trillion US dollars) in the first eight months of this year, according to official data released by the State Administration of Customs. Exports rose 5.4 percent year-on-year during the January-August period to 10.34 trillion yuan, compared with a 13.7 percent increase in imports to record 9.09 trillion yuan, resulting in a trade surplus of 1.25 trillion yuan, The trade surplus shrank by 31.3 percent. Exports rose by 7.9 percent, while imports jumped 18.8 percent. During the first eight months of this year, exports and imports of products in the general trade category, which differ from the processing trade, gained 13.1 percent from a year earlier to record 11.43 trillion yuan , Accounting for 58.8 percent of total foreign trade, 2.1 percentage points higher than the same period last year. China's trade with major trading partners rose during the period, with trade with the European Union, the country's largest partner, jumping 6.2 percent, with the United States and the ASEAN growing by 5.9 percent and 11.8 percent, respectively.
