A new Iraqi politician familiar with the atmosphere of negotiations last minute on the composition of the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi, the emergence of Sunni - Shiite differences on the number of ministries obtained by each component and the nature of these ministries in terms of division of sovereignty or service.
The newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" the number issued today that "Sunni Arabs have not yet submitted their candidates to fill ministerial positions despite the expiration of the deadline, on the seventeenth of this month."
The source pointed to the emergence of signs of "dissatisfaction with the ministries and the way to divide them," noting that "there is a tendency to return to the composition of the Governing Council established by the American civil administrator Paul Bremer after the occupation of Iraq, which was divided by the basis of quotas sectarian and ethnic, Shiite members of the Governing Council at the time 13 members, Sunni Arabs 5 and Kurds 3 in addition to one member of minorities.
In response to a question about the relationship between the composition of the Governing Council and the way ministries are distributed, the informed politician says, "We want to return to the component houses through the ministries that we are supposed to have left after the elections. There are no longer Shiite, Sunni or Kurdish houses, "The current quota is a second return to the sectarian and ethnic components, giving the Shiites 13 ministries and the same share during the Governing Council and the year 5 ministries and Kurds and 3 minorities and one ministry, which led to the rejection of the Sunnis for this division.
"The Sunnis want six ministries, not five, and prefer the oil ministry to defend because the Sunni defense minister is usually withdrawn," he said, revealing attempts to restore the ministries of women, tourism and antiquities.
