The Integrity Commission announced on Tuesday details of the sentence issued against a former official in the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities for applying for a "bribe" from a civil company in exchange for a tender for a project in Diyala province.
"The fugitive convict was the head of engineers and chairman of the tender opening committee for emergency loan projects for the reconstruction of areas liberated from terrorist operations in Diyala province," the agency's investigations department said in a statement.
She pointed out that "the request for the amount of twenty thousand dollars as bribes from the representative of a civil company in return for the tender for the rehabilitation of the road Kara Tabh - Mansouriya to the company."
She explained that the Karkh Criminal Court, the third body, has reached sufficient conviction to criminalize the convict after reviewing the statements of the legal representative of the Ministry of Construction and Public Municipalities who requested the complaint against the accused, the minutes of the investigative committee in which the accused was identified, Which confirmed that the voice of the convict with the sound recorded on the CD is asking for bribery.
The investigation department said that "he was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment and a fine of five million dinars in accordance with the provisions of resolution (160 / II / 1 of 1983).
"The ruling included the issuance of an arrest warrant against the convict with support for the seizure of his movable and immovable property, in addition to keeping the injured party the right to seek compensation before the civil courts after the decision to decide the ruling categorical."
