The Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq has instructed the investigative courts to receive complaints about missing Sunnis.
The head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zeidan, met Monday morning with Chief Prosecutor Mowaffaq al-Obeidi and head of the Judicial Supervisory Authority Jassem al-Amiri, according to a statement issued by the council.
The meeting discussed the issue recently raised regarding the presence of missing persons or (absentees) where the Supreme Judicial Council had previously received a list of names from the member of the House of Representatives Osama Nujaifi on that.
The statement said that the courts of inquiry were instructed according to the spatial jurisdiction to receive complaints about them and take all legal procedures to know their fate, including the transfer of judges and prosecutors to the sites where they are allegedly detained to confirm their fate in coordination and cooperation with the competent security authorities.
The participants also discussed the results of the visit of the judicial delegation to the Judicial Council in the Kurdistan Region on 8/9/2019, which included the Chief Prosecutor, the President of the Judicial Supervisory Board, the President of Nineveh Court of Appeal and the President of Kirkuk Court of Appeal.
The statement pointed out that all topics that would deal with the problems that may occur between the Center and the region were discussed as far as the judicial issue was concerned. For unlawful purposes contrary to law and agreement to eliminate this phenomenon.
