Yesterday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf revealed the outcome of the ISIS children, Arabs and foreigners who have been extradited to their countries so far.
Al-Sahaf explained that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with other sectoral bodies, including the Supreme Judicial Council and security authorities, has delivered 598 children of ISIS terrorist children to their countries.
The number of newspapers is the countries whose children have been extradited: “Turkey, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Germany, France, Sweden, Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine, Algeria, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan”.
Al-Sahaf noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had invited all countries, through their missions and embassies abroad, to the necessity of initiating coordination with Iraq to receive their children, according to the sovereign, legal, and constitutional contexts.
Iraq called on all countries to intensify efforts to receive their nationals who are members of ISIS from children, women and people whose detention has ended.
The Foreign Ministry said then in a statement, in the middle of last July, that the Iraqi missions working abroad sent invitations to all countries that have ISIS affiliated citizens, including women, children, and persons whose detention period ended in order to coordinate with the Iraqi authorities through diplomatic channels in order to receive them.
Iraq continues to return the children of the terrorist “ISIS” elements, whose parents were killed, fled, or arrested during the start of military operations to liberate Iraqi cities in the provinces of Anbar, Nineveh, Salahuddin, and parts of Kirkuk, west and north of the country, two years ago.
In December 2017, Iraq announced the liberation of all of its territory from the terrorist group ISIS, after nearly 3 and a half years of confrontations with the terrorist organization that occupied about a third of the country at the time.
Simultaneously, the foreign ministers of Iraq, Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon held a quartet meeting to discuss the Syrian refugee crisis, and stressed the need for the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to bear more responsibility for this crisis.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry stated that, “Minister Muhammad Ali Al-Hakim participated in a meeting that included Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, and Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mawloud Cawushoglu.” The meeting added: "The meeting discussed the Syrian refugee crisis, which calls for humanitarian interventions that secure them access to decent livelihoods, and the development of urgent plans to alleviate their suffering, in addition to adopting strategies focused on supporting the economy of the host countries, with the aim of preserving social and economic stability."
According to the statement, the ministers stressed, "The United Nations and humanitarian organizations must bear more responsibility for this crisis and secure the necessary humanitarian and development support for them."
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Refugee Forum in Geneva, which began Tuesday in conjunction with the adoption of the United Nations Global Compact on Refugees.
Last week, the body of a 19-year-old young activist was found murdered in a terrible way, after her abduction and leaving her body outside the family home.
A report on the demonstrations issued by the United Nations Mission in Iraq called on the authorities to stop targeting the demonstrators and to prosecute those involved.
In the report, the Mission held "a third unknown entity", "armed entities", "outlaws" and "spoilers" responsible for "intentional killing, kidnapping and arbitrary detention".
